Magic? Coincidence? Or What?

Magic? Coincidence? Or What?

        Over the years, there can come a time where the phone is not ringing, no one is waiting for service and the company is just putting the finishing touches on the last project on the assembly line.

        So I'll go on a big PROMOTE.


        I'll call happy Customers who have said lots of nice things about how NumberOneOnTheList.com assisted their business or got them more business or whatever is the particular quality of the work that made them happy. Call them up. (1) Can I get you to write a testimonial for me? (2) As long as we're talking here, can I offer you further services? (3) Do you have any vendors that might benefit from my fine services? (Businesses that NumberOneOnTheList.com has put on page one of Google search results may not want to recommend businesses that compete in some way, and it's a possible conflict of interest for me, so I ask for vendors).

        A down and dirty cheap and fast flyer is a 2 column Word document with some visuals (stats, charts, clip art) nicely copied 2-sided onto colored paper by FedEx Office or your favorite copier. Now the two or three testimonials gotten from happy Customers are turning into an attractive flyer and ready to go out to the appropriate mailing list.

        A second version of the same flyer is turned into HTML for an email newsletter or put into a Constant Contact newsletter - the point is to send it out to the appropriate emailing list too.

        OK, OK, so I'm making calls and mailing out a flyer and emailing a newsletter, all good ways to get the word out, it's a no-brainer to put information in front of Customers. Where's the magic? What coincidence?

        Well I'll tell you.

        More often than not, as I'm coming back from the post office after dropping off a bunch of flyers or after I finish the email newsletter and schedule it up to go out at 6:00 AM the following morning, before anybody at all outside of my offices has gotten either the flyer or the email newsletter, the phone starts to ring, business starts to walk in the door.

       I intended to get something happening and it's happening.
